Welcome to the vibrant, welcoming, and growing community of Bethany UMC on James Island! As the pastor of this wonderful church family, I am honored to serve alongside this group of believers. Bethany is not only “the end of your search for a friendly church - but we are also a community of believers who are passionate about personal growth, community engagement, and making a positive impact in the world. We are committed to living out our faith in tangible ways, through our involvement in James Island Outreach and Reading Partners, care packages for the homeless, a resource center for foster families, and other community programs. We believe that the church is called to be the hands and feet of Christ in the world, and we are dedicated to serving those in need and sharing God's love with all whom we encounter. Known as the "pumpkin church," we have added Christmas Trees and a seasonal market to our church campus. We are excited to announce that we have also recently constructed a new playground for our children and children in the community to enjoy! If you are searching for a community of caring, active, inclusive, and growing believers who are having a good time "being the church," then Bethany UMC is the place for you! Snowball Mountain Challenge Sunday, May 31 - Wednesday, June 3, 2026 5:00-7:30pm Kids will become Challengers, gearing up for frosty games, snowy surprises, and hands-on lessons about resilience and faith. Challengers aren't just playing games; they learn to draw strength from their faith through powerful stories of courage and hope teaching kids that "I can do all things through him who strengthens me" (Philippians 4:13 NRSV). Our Nursery is Open during Church Service and Sunday School
We have a wonderful and caring Nursery Worker that is on staff each Sunday for both Sunday Service and Sunday School. The nursery is available from newborn to four years old. Children's Church Children's Church is available for ages three through fifth grade during the worship service.
