Bethany's Various Ministries

The United Methodist Church exists for the mission of
"making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world".

The local church is where this mission is fleshed out through ministry.

Bethany's ministries are organized around the N.O.W. Ministry Model.
Through Nurture Ministries, Outreach Ministries, and Witness Ministries,
we keep step with what God is doing in our neighborhood.

Sunday School Classes

Bethany's adult Sunday School Classes meet at 10:00 on Sunday mornings. Each class has its own distinct culture, and is open to all people who'd like to join. The best way to find a good fit is to try one!

Children's Ministries

The Children's Ministry is very active at Bethany, with a Children's Church offered each week during our Casual Service as well as having Sunday School Classes available at 10:00 for all ages. There are programs and fun activities held regularly throughout the year as well - we hope you'll join us!

Nurture Ministries

Nurture Ministries focus on what we do for those that come to Bethany, like Sunday School, Bible studies, special events and shared meals, Terrific Tuesday potluck lunches, congregational care, and worship experiences.

Outreach Ministries

Outreach Ministries focus on what we do for those who don't come to Bethany, but whom we want to love like God does.  Bethany is connectional, we apportion part of every donation to meet the needs of ministries around the world.  Locally, Bethany ministers through partnerships with a warming shelter, James Island Outreach, Young life, deliverance ministries, Salkehatchie, Wesley Foundation, Epworth Children's Home, Red Bird Mission, and by visiting local senior living facilities.

Witness Ministries

Witness Ministries focus on how we share our faith stories with the community, how we invite new people to our campus, and how we live our faith by word and deed.  Many of our witness activities major in hospitality.  We host pancake suppers, Lenten Luncheon series, fish frys, barbeques, outdoor concerts and cartoons, Trunk or Treat, a Pumpkin Patch, a live nativity, the White Elephant Bingo, and FAN nutrition and line dancing activities.

Music Ministries

Bethany has a music ministry that is always hoping to grow! We have a traditional Chancel Choir, which sings on during our Traditional Service each Sunday as well as presents special concerts and cantatas throughout the year. There is also a Praise Band which performs during our Casual Service and a whole host of opportunities for soloists or small ensembles to practice and perform.

United Methodist Women
United Methodist Men

Both our UMW and UMM are made up of people  of all ages who meet once a month for friendship, food, Bible study and mission.
UMWomen meet first Tuesday evenings at 6:45 pm in the Fellowship Hall.
UMMen meet first Sunday mornings at 8:00 am in the Fellowship Hall.
